I was very excited to start the race season. I get to workout all the time--because it is my job!!! what could be better--paid to be fit!! The first race of the season was the 2009 Chieftain Spring Run Off--Liz got up early on the spring ahead sunday to some to the race early with me (KUDOS TO HER) Rick followed shortly behind with my girls in tow!! It was great to have them there!!!
I do have to admit, after the initial sprint off of the start line, i was a bit taken back. I did not know if I could keep up the pace!! Many tall, thin young men started easing right past me--oh well--the men do not really matter. Then some of the younger woman started coming by--oh well ---I will run as hard as I can. It felt good to finish and better yet when the results were announced!!!
57th/377 5K runners 9th place for woman (total # woman--I did not count) 23:40 minutes overall time 7:40 minute mile pace--1st place in my age division!!! YIIPPEEE! i feel like a little kid--all giddy for a lollipop. Enjoy the pictures!! I am sure I will post some more--Liz took some great shots too!!
